This started off as a song about getting into a better frame of mind about things, but it was so upbeat, every time I got into the writing of the lyrics, I was already in a good mood because of the guitars and melody. I didn't want to finish this song, it was so enjoyable to write!
Better Than This (You're Right)
You're such a bad cheater I could never stare that long Like it ever got that far 'Cause I always had to flinch When you'd try to flick my nose And run Every way I had to be was wrong But I didn't even care Cause the way I found my second chance was all I ever could've dared for Like that night when we ran through the middle of town Through the pools, and all the fountains and such cold rain It was such a perfect time 'Cause you're right - you're right to be unspoken You're right - you're right to be unburdened You're right You’re right that things just don't get much better than this [Mmm’s] Can't get much better than this Some things just keep on rising Even through the disappointments It just takes so long And sometimes clouds keep reappearing So you soak in every minute of sun Every game I thought won was lost Like they were never really there And the games I thought I had to win are gone But I didn't really care Like the night when we ran through the middle of town And I told you how I lost my sense of pride And I didn't really mind, 'cause
[Chorus ~ out]
